| Introduction | Nanophotonics is an emerging multidisciplinary field that is creating new nanoscale approaches to solving vexing technological limitations to progress in vital areas, such as, information storage, communications, chemical and biological sensing, medicine, renewable energy, and remote sensing. It applies a wide range of fabrication tools and unprecedented resolution can be achieved in characterization instrumentation. This special issue is intended to collect results covering a wide range of disciplines: chemistry, physics, materials and electrical engineering, biology, and medicine. This issue will roughly correspond to the third International Conference on Nanophotonics (http://physics.hit.edu.cn/nano2009/) to be held in Harbin on May 11-14, 2009, and will be published in October 2009.
The following list is an example of the areas of interest: Metamaterials, Materials synthesis, Nanofabrication techniques, Nanocharacterization methods and instrumentation, Nanosensors, Photonic crystals, Plasmonics, Quantum confined structures, Nanostructures for energy, etc.
Submission deadline: June 1, 2009
